Bryce Canyon
Two Trips to Bryce
One of my passions for travel in the United States has been National Parks. I find the escape into wilderness to be the perfect form of mediation. This picture is from my first trip to Bryce Canyon in the winter of 2021, the stark difference between the summer and winter months can be seen in the pictures below. As far as crowds go Bryce is fairly sparse, in the summers you'll see people around but it is much more manageable than some of Utah's other parks like Arches and Zion. In the winters you might not see anyone at all, my visit was right after a large snowstorm so it probably decreased vistiors even more than normal but over the course of two days I only saw 3-4 people in the park.
If you are looking for lodging in town there aren't too many options around. On my two visits I have been happy staying at Ruby's Inn operated by the Best Western, the other main option in town is the Best Western Plus right across the street. Ruby's Inn is nothing too fancy but it's a nice hotel for a small town with lots of outdoor activities that can be booked through the hotel with a cool history that dates back to 1916.
If you're looking for a good hike the Navajo Loop is a gorgeous trail that takes you through the amphitheater, it runs around 3 miles long with just over 600 feet of elevation gain, in the summer time the hike is not too difficult just be sure to pack enough water and remember that if you hike all the way down you've also got to hike back up.
If you're looking for some nighttime entertainment in the summer Ebenezer's Barn and Grill Dinner show was a fun show throughout the night headlined by the Bryce Canyon Wrangler's. A few of their original songs to check out before deciding on a show might be "Helluva Place to Lose A Cow" a song about Ebenezer Bryce a mormon pioneer who stumbled upon the canyon in the 1800's while searching for his lost cattle, and "A Song Like Me" a fun song written from the perspective of a song and how it transforms from some simple lyrics and then takes on a life of its own.
Craft Beer Pick of the Trip: Utah is not a place known for their craft beer and Bryce Canyon will not be a place you find too many options, but one beer I really did enjoy was Uinta's Clear Daze Hazy IPA. This was a nice juicy IPA with a lower 6% ABV and lots of forward fruit flavor.
